Has anyone tried to customize and have some tips? I would like to paint one of our engines the colors of our favorite NFL team.
Has anyone found some model train items that would be close to the same scale? I was thinking about LED streetlights.
I've been trying to do something similar, but haven't gotten around to it. I imagine some model paint would probably work, since they're plastic. I want to make a flourescent pink train for my daughter :)
I've converted a Track town engine into a Thomas engine, and added sound to the controller. Made a 4-way elevated crossover piece and a trestle bridge. Paint was always the hardest thing. Airbrush and model train paint is the best way to go, but getting it to match is a bear. I have used Gorilla when trying to glue together pieces that don't quite fit, as it expands. Regular model glue will work also. Water based paint worked kind of OK. Next up...Workin Town railway engine converted into Steamline Station engine.
As far as the streetlighs go, GeoTrax scale is a little tricky. THe track is the same width as "S" gauge, but the cars are the same length as "N" gauge. Maybe make one out of Polystyrene tubing that is big enough to put in a AAA battery for the light? Use a Fan pull (drilled out) for the base and....not sure for the light. Led Definately. You could use yellow like a gas light. Maybe some cut pieces of acrylic for the panes and paint the corners, then a cut piece of wood for the top? Sand blast the inside of the acryllic for a frosted finish. Let me know if you make or convert one.
